Gaastmeer is the ideal place to escape the hustle and bustle of the day and enjoy peace and space.
Gaastmeer (Frisian: Gaastmar) is a rustic area where you can unwind perfectly and enjoy various activities. Due to its central location in the Frisian lake district, you can take a perfect trip on the water, for example, in a sailboat, canoe, or sloop. Around Gaastmeer, you'll find the lake Groote Gaastmeer, and a bit further, you can sail to the Heegermeer and the Fluessen. With your canoe or on the SUP, you can also choose to navigate through small lakes and rivers to the Oudegaaster Brekken.
Gaastmeer is the village where the Frisian poet Jan Jelles Hof was born, and it actually consists of two villages; Kleine Gaastmeer and Grote Gaastmeer. Gaastmeer is also a great starting point for various cycling or hiking tours.
