Sandfirden, a charming village on the Frisian lakes, a place for peace and nature.
Sandfirden (Sânfurd) is a small village and consists only of a church, a few houses, and a couple of farms.
This village, with the Sânfurd church as its focal point, is popular as a wedding location for couples seeking a special and intimate ceremony. Yet, Sandfirden has more to offer than just romance. In Sandfirden, you are surrounded by peace, space, and contemplation. An ideal place for those who love nature and seek tranquility. The village is built on an old sand ridge called Gravinnewei, which originated during the Ice Age.
The Sânfurd Foundation brings the village to life by organizing regular cultural events in the church. In the summer, the villagers gather for church services.
Behind the church is a polder, mostly owned by the Rijke Weide Vogelfonds. This fund ensures fertile land where meadow birds have enough space to live and breed.
