The large expanses of open water, reed beds, grassland and swamp forest attract many rare forms of wildlife. There are as many as 90 different species of birds, including geese, sedge warblers, goldfinches, woodpeckers, bitterns and even white-tailed eagles. You may see them in flight from the bird-watching hide. There are also growing numbers of otters and grass snakes. You can go on lovely walks along several trails through the reserve.
