Renting a boat in Friesland
Don't have a boat of your own? Even outside the peak season, you can easily rent a boat in Friesland. This route can also be undertaken by skippers without a boating license. You will receive good boating instructions from the rental company at the beginning.

Duration of the boating route
This boating route is not very long at 16 kilometers and is ideal for a half-day: a morning or afternoon on the water. In a sloop, you can complete the circuit within 3 hours. In good weather, you could also do this route by canoe, plan a whole day for it so you can rest somewhere along the way.

Bridges in Friesland
On this route, you will encounter five bridges and two small locks. The bridges don't need to be opened for you because with a sloop or canoe, you can easily pass underneath them. The tidal lock in Goingarijp and the Joustersluisje are always open. Watch out for oncoming traffic because the locks are very narrow; fortunately, it's quiet on the water outside the peak season.

Where can you dispose of your waste
Bringing snacks for the journey? Great, but put empty packaging back into your bag immediately so they don't blow overboard. If you come across litter on the way, would you take it on board? The birds and fish will be grateful! At the boat rental, there is undoubtedly a waste container where you can dispose of your waste.

There are docks in beautiful spots at the Langwarder Wielen and the Goingarijpster Puollen, but also at the small Jentsjemar and the Langesturtepoel. But maybe the most fun is to moor somewhere in Goingarijp or Langweer for a hot chocolate!
