Kuiertocht Boazum
Just behind Boazum lies the Slachte. This ancient inland dike once protected the village from the waters of the Middelzee. This extension of the Wadden Sea reached all the way to Sneek. If the Sint-Martinus Church in Boazum is open, take a moment to step inside. In this church, you can see a unique Medieval mural depicting a beardless Jesus.
A "kuiertocht" is a short walking route. So, it probably won't surprise you that in Frisian, "wandelen" translates to "kuierje". You can easily combine a leisurely stroll with an activity in the area, or choose to embark on another leisurely stroll. An overview of all leisurely strolls can be found here.

St Martin’s Church Fresco
While restoration work was being carried out at St Martin’s Church in Boazum, a remarkable fresco was discovered. The 12th-century church is one of the oldest Roman churches in Friesland. The fresco is very unusual in that it shows Jesus without a beard.
