Tour Sneek - Aldfeart - Zwette | SUP and Canoe Route

Substantial SUP route from Sneek. You paddle over the old river 'de Aldfeart' through the lowlands around Sneek towards the hamlet Easterwierrum. You pass through two small locks.

At Easterwierrum, you reach the canal 'de Zwette' and paddle back to Sneek, which is part of the Elfstedentocht ice skating and boating route. Enjoy the nature, open spaces, and beautiful views along the way!

Duration of the route
This route is a total of 19 kilometers long. As a beginner, you paddle at about 3 kilometers per hour, so you'll be busy for more than 6 hours: a full-day program!

Bridges in Friesland
On this route, you will encounter several bridges. With a SUP or canoe, you can almost always navigate around them. And if there's an issue with a bridge or culvert, step off and walk if necessary. The first part of the route (over the Aldfeart) takes you over a waterway in category E, where boats with a draft of 1.0 m can navigate. Once you turn left towards Easterwierrum, you end up on the Zwette. This is a waterway in category DM, where boats with a draft of 1.3 m and a height of 2.3 m can navigate. This route is also suitable for a (electric) sloop.
