Take a look

Easterein (Oosterend) is a village located southeast of Wommels and northwest of Sneek, along the Oosterendevaart.

Originally situated on an island, Easterein encompassed several surrounding villages such as Hennaard, Itens, and Lutkewierum. Following the establishment of the Hennaarderadeel district, Easterein became the principal village, although later Wommels assumed this position.

The village is renowned for the Martinikerk, predominantly dating back to the Middle Ages and boasting the oldest sacristy in Friesland. The church houses a rare rood screen (oksaal) from 1554 adorned with Renaissance carvings, along with a 17th-century lord's pew.

South of the village stands the Rispenserpoldermolen, a ground-sailing windmill originally dating back to 1821. Located on the outskirts of the hamlet Driehuizen, the mill is sometimes associated with Hidaard, but is actually situated within the territorial limits of Oosterend.
