The Sneekermeer (Frisian: Snitser Mar) is, of course, known for the Sneekweek, the annual sailing races held on this lake. However, even outside the Sneekweek, it is highly recommended for water sports enthusiasts to visit the Sneekermeer. On the edge of the Sneekermeer is the Starteiland, an island that can only be reached by ferry or private boat. On the Starteiland, you will find several harbors, a restaurant, and a playground.
The Sneekermeer has a high-speed zone; within the yellow buoys, you are allowed to sail quickly. Outside of this designated high-speed zone, you should adjust your speed to accommodate other water sports enthusiasts.
