This polder mill was built in 1846 and reconstructed in the year 2000.
The origin of the Aylvapolder mill is in Hallum, in the northern part of Friesland. When an industrial area was expanded there in 2000, there was no longer space for the mill, so it was relocated to Burgwerd. The site where the mill was built had been the location of the original Aylvapolder mill until 1959 when it was destroyed in a fire.
The initial plan was to place the mill on the foundation of its predecessor, but this turned out not to be feasible. After some adjustments, the mill was eventually installed and ceremoniously inaugurated by Annemarie Jorritsma.
When one of the volunteer millers is present, visitors can tour the mill. For more information about the mill, you can check the website.
