House Messingklopper
IJlst
The Messingklopper was presumably built in 1669. Adorning the facade is a splendid family crest with that year, but the building may be of an earlier date.
Take a look
The Messingklopper was presumably built in 1669. Adorning the facade is a splendid family crest with that year, but the building may be of an earlier date. Unfortunately, it is not known to which family this coat of arms belongs. Even heraldists have been unable to ascertain this information. Behind the Messingklopper, there was a wooden building with 4 'rooms' at the end of the nineteenth/beginning of the twentieth century, which were inhabited by a few 'poor' individuals. During the First World War, some Belgian refugees stayed in these rooms. During that period, the Messingklopper looked neglected. The building was then purchased by the Vereniging Hendrick de Keijser, which restored and returned it to its former glory. The Association continues to rent out the property, which has been divided into 2 residences, to this day.
