The Pieltsjerke church in Gaastmeer stands on the bank of It Piel, an inlet of Lake Fluessen. The church tower serves as a striking landmark from the lake and from the village.

Originally built in the 19th century, the single-nave church was almost completely rebuilt in 1953 so it looks more like a 20th-century church. Its wooden gable tower has a constricted spire and houses a swinging bell cast by the bell founders Geert van Wou and Johannes Schonenborch in 1519. The pulpit with its carved panels dates from the 17th century. The organ was built by Bakker & Timmenga in 1890.
